ServiceS

1. Our Services

Gradient Geothermal unlocks the full value of geothermal heat—turning underused resources into scalable, zero-emission energy systems that power industry, technology, and progress.

For Oil and Gas Clients:

Geothermal Power Generation

We convert heat from existing wells into emissions-free electricity, helping clients offset energy costs and support grid resilience.

Cooler Replacement with Geothermal Technology

We replace conventional gas and fluid coolers on oil and gas wellsites with geothermal solutions, reducing energy consumption, cutting emissions, and improving site efficiency. Our systems utilize waste heat from wells to provide sustainable cooling and power, eliminating reliance on traditional high-energy use cooling methods.

End-to-End Project Integration

From evaluating site-specific thermal resources to installation and operation, we handle the entire process. Our solutions are implemented through a rental model, eliminating upfront costs for feasibility studies and integrating economic and regulatory benefits into our service.

Carbon Emission Reduction

We help companies reduce their carbon footprint through geothermal energy solutions that lower emissions without disrupting ongoing operations.

Economic Optimization

Our approach includes maximizing GHG emission reductions, incentives, and operational efficiencies, ensuring clients gain measurable financial and environmental benefits.

TECHNOLOGY

Initial Installation in Nevada

In May 2022, we partnered with Grant Canyon Oil and Gas LLC and ElectraTherm to successfully generate clean, lower-carbon electricity at an oil field in Nevada. The energy is used to power a portion of Grant Canyon’s operations at the oil field, reducing total greenhouse gas emissions from their operations.  This was the first step in our goal to provide affordable energy that bridges the gap between fossil fuels and renewable energy.

TECHNOLOGY

First Commercial Deployment in North Dakota

Gradient Geothermal is proud to partner with Chord Energy on a groundbreaking pilot project in North Dakota, showcasing the transformative potential of geothermal energy in the oil and gas sector.

This pilot focuses on utilizing Gradient’s modular geothermal systems, designed to replace traditional gas coolers commonly used on wellsites. These systems not only improve operational efficiency but also enable the co-production of geothermal electricity. This clean power can be used directly on-site or exported to support grid stability, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and enhancing the sustainability of oil and gas operations.

The North Dakota project serves as a model for integrating geothermal solutions into active oilfields, proving that renewable energy can complement traditional energy production. By maximizing the use of existing resources, the project minimizes environmental impact and demonstrates significant cost savings compared to conventional geothermal development methods. This collaboration underscores Gradient Geothermal’s commitment to driving the energy transition through scalable, pragmatic solutions.

TECHNOLOGY

Power + Cooling for the Edge

Reliable, Emissions-Free Energy for Distributed Compute

As the demand for edge computing and regional data infrastructure grows, reliable power and thermal management have become mission-critical. Gradient Geothermal provides a combined power generation and cooling solution built specifically for small (<1 MW) data centers, telecom huts, and distributed computing sites.

Our HXC System converts geothermal heat into continuous, zero-emission electricity and when paired with a shallow geoexchange system, can also provide cooling. This eliminates the need for separate systems, fuel logistics, or high-carbon intensity backup generation.

TECHNOLOGY

With the highest percentage of continuous output of any renewable energy source, geothermal energy is an essential component to transitioning the energy grid to non-carbon sources. Though extremely important, the development of geothermal energy has lagged behind its other renewable counterparts due to the high costs of exploration and drilling and the lengthy permitting process required.
